Race Overview
Classy three-year-old colt ILLINOIS (2) hit the woodwork for the second time in as many Group I attempts this term when chasing home stablemate Jan Brueghel at Doncaster in the St Leger. He sets a lofty standard and is hard to oppose in this Group II opener. COLUMBUS (5) won a 3000m Group III last time, establishing himself as a leading three-year-old French stayer, so he could emerge as the biggest threat to the selection if continuing on his upward trajectory. SHAMARKAND (1) and VIGATATA (8) aren't underestimated either, given the strength and consistency of their form/performances.
