A competitive start to the card. KIM DE GAUDEL (1) disappointed last time out but was in good form before that and can bounce back to win a race like this. MER NOIR (8) is clearly better on the turf and was not disgraced when fourth last time out. She can do even better this time. RED THE WEST (11) needed the last run and could be a threat. PREDETERMINED (2) also seems capable of better than the last run would suggest.
