Mickaël Seror, trainer of the future

Mickaël Seror, left, after a success at Compiègne

Active as a trainer since 2010, Mickaël Seror, now 37, was introduced to the world of racing from a very young age by his father, and uncle Jacques Seror, well-known owner in both branches of the industry.

After his career as a jockey was cut short due to weight problems, the young Seror went on to gain invaluable experience with the likes of Jean-Paul DelaporteGuillaume Macaire and Ronald Caget.

Initially based at Avilly-Saint-Léonard, close to Chantilly, Mickaël began to see results materialise in 2017, finishing the season with 22 wins. Last year, he passed that symbolic marker of 50 victories for the first time, and he looks set to easily better that in 2023, having already amassed 53 wins since January 1. With around 75 horses in training these days, the young handler is eager to improve the quality of bloodstock in his yard.

He has won a Gr.1 on the flat, an important AQPS bumper, a G.3 over jumps and is nearing his maiden G.1 national hunt success, on a calendar which comprises just nine annually.

Married to Marie-Gabrielle, sister of Pierre-Charles Boudot, Mickaël has enjoyed considerable success with horses bred by the Boudot family. These connections have by no means hampered his success in finding owners, neither have his frequent sales’ visits to Ireland and the UK.

Highlight of his career is still The Reader who went from running in a claimer at the start of the 2018/2019 winter meeting to winning the Grand Steeple de Cagnes sur Mer at the end of it. It will not be like that this Saturday where he has just one runner in the 4 Group events at Auteuil, but he is 7th in the championship and will be eyeing a higher spot.
