Vent Sombre strikes at Enghien

It was most certainly not a sombre wind that blew at Enghien yesterday for Master of Maisons-Laffitte, Guy Chérel, and six year-old AQPS gelding Vent Sombre as they lifted the Gr.2 Grand Steeple-Chase d’Enghien in fine fashion. Running easily behind the leaders for most of the 5000m (3m1f) contest, the son of Network took the lead heading to the final fence and ran on comfortably to win by 2½ lengths.

Veteran chaser to upstage the Younger Generations

One of the highlights of the Enghien-Soisy jumping calendar takes place at the Parisian track this Saturday, the Group 2 Grand Steeple-Chase d’Enghien. A gruelling 5,000m (3m1f) this chase has always attracted horses on their way to stardom with the likes of Or Jack, Ubu III, and Northerntown associated with the event.
