New Driver for Face Time Bourbon

19 February 2021

Antonio Somma, owner of Face Time Bourbon, confirmed in a Facebook Live interview on 18 February that Björn Goop would not be resuming his partnership as driver of the double G1 Grand Prix d’ Amérique (2700m) champion. “We thank Björn Goop who has been a very good partner for Face Time Bourbon in the last few months, but this association ended in the Prix de France,” stated Somma. Goop responded on Twitter with a statement: “Letting a horse have a new driver is part of the game. I am grateful for having had the opportunity to drive Face Time Bourbon. I wish the horse and the connections around him good luck in the future”.

Trainer Sébastien Guarato was given a choice of replacement driver with five names presented by Somma. It has been confirmed Eric Raffin will be the new partner of Face Time Bourbon. The G1 Grand Prix de France (2100m) winning driver is delighted with his new appointment and was quick to identify that this will not immediately affect his association with Délia du Pommereux, as Face Time Bourbon will not run in the G1 Grand Prix de Paris (4150m). Regarding future clashes, trainer Jean-Michel Baudouin has released Raffin from his commitment to Hirondelle Sibey in the G1 Prix de Sélection (2200m) to allow him to take up the drive on Face Time Bourbon.
